You might not think of running a 5k as a typical Halloween activity, but in Sugar House it’s all the rage!
Ten years ago Keller Williams Real Estate decided to host a 5k that would offer a fun place for friends and family to get in some physical activity, while also providing a way to give back to those in need in the community through donating part of the proceeds to local charities. It was an instant hit and the Haunted Hustle became an annual tradition that gets bigger and spookier every year!
The Haunted Hustle course starts with the Zombie Graveyard. If you run fast enough to avoid having your brains eaten, then the next horror on your run will be the Tunnel of Terror… Who knows what beasts, killers, or monsters lurk in the dark? If you survive the tunnel then your next challenge will be to make it through the Foggy Forest alive! If you make it through all of that then you’ll be rewarded with a costume contest, live DJ, treats, giveaways, and more! Adults, kids, and dogs are all welcome to participate–just make sure you’re all ready for a scare!
The run will be held at Sugar House Park on October 29th. Costumes aren’t required, but they’re definitely encouraged! Runners will be released in waves so as to not overcrowd the course. The first wave begins at 6pm and the last one is at 7:30pm. You can pick up your packet, or register for the run on the day of at the Big Field Pavilion from 4-7pm. There will also be free face painting from 5-7pm and of course the party at the end of the course, starting at 8pm. It’s one big Halloween celebration you don’t want to miss!
