Christmas is this weekend, but that doesn’t mean that the festivities have to be over! Thanksgiving Point’s Luminaria experience will be open until the end of December, and it’s a great way to wrap up the holiday season. Luminaria is a yearly holiday light show that allows people to immerse themselves in the beauty and celebration of the holidays. The show is held in the Ashton Gardens which are usually filled with beautiful greenery in the warmer months, but in winter the entire hill is covered in 6,500 lights that are programmed to delight you with swirling patterns, blooming poinsettias, dancing reindeer, and more!
Follow the mile-long path through the gardens to see the lights, hear the music, taste the treats, and experience the magic of light and celebration. Igloos and fireplaces can be reserved ahead of time for you and your family to stop along the way and warm up. There will also be treats at the gift boutique, and you can purchase a VIP ticket which comes with bottomless hot chocolate (along with parking perks and souvenirs).
Along with the light show, which highlights a 120-foot tree on top of the hill, there is also a very detailed nativity scene and a yeti that hides in the show that you can try to spot as you make your way through the event. If you plan to visit Luminaria on New Year’s Eve, there will also be a fireworks show.
So no matter how you celebrate the holidays, Luminaria has something for everyone to enjoy. Bring the whole family, or take some time with your significant other on a date night, and come experience the magic of the holidays at one of the biggest light shows in Utah.
