Are you in a STEM field and want to support aspiring students? Or maybe you have kids who you want to inspire to go into a STEM field? Or if you’re just looking for something new to do next Saturday, then the Utah STEM Expo is the place for you!
If you have no idea what STEM is, but you continued reading this article this far anyway, allow me to explain. STEM stands for science, technology, engineering, and mathematics. Jobs that are based in these fields help make some of society’s biggest advancements. Unfortunately it can sometimes be difficult for children and teenagers to stay interested in pursuing these careers due to the complexity of the coursework and the length of schooling. That’s why events like the STEM Expo are so important. They help highlight the amazing aspects of STEM and help motivate and inspire kids (and adults) to learn, grow, and pursue futures in the world of math and science.
The expo will be held at the Mountain America Expo Center on Saturday the 28th from 11:00am to 2:00pm. This particular expo is sponsored by the Beehive Science and Technology Academy and showcases over 300 different projects from hundreds of K-11 graders. These kids get to show off demonstrations and experiments that they’ve worked long and hard on. There will also be local businesses and professionals there demonstrating their own scientific advances and experiments to anyone who’s interested. There will be explosions, robots, lasers, rockets, magnets, hands-on activities, and so much more!
Admission is free and everyone is invited to show up. So if you’re interested in supporting your local aspiring scientists and mathematicians, or are curious about the latest technological advances in your community, then head on down to the expo!
