Making friends was much easier when we were children. All it took was being on the playground at the same time and yelling “tag! You’re it!” Now, as adults, it can be slightly more difficult to build fast friendships. Connection is important, but living in a post-Covid, career-focused society doesn’t make it easy. Maybe you work from home or are scheduled for weird hours. Or maybe you’re home with the kids all the time or have a commute that takes up a lot of your free time. Whatever social hurdle you feel like you’re facing, or even if you aren’t facing one at all but want to meet new people, then this event was made for you!
You’ve heard of speed dating, now get ready for speed friending! Back by popular demand, Squatters Pub Brewery will be hosting another Speed Friending event on February 25th from 7:00 to 11:00 pm. The entire second and third floors of the pub will be reserved exclusively for this event, along with two private bars, and free appetizers. Everyone attending will be there to make friends, so skip the awkward small talk phase of friendship and dive right into the good stuff!
Each round of “friending” will last three minutes and you’ll be provided with a list of completely random and unexpected questions to help spur your conversation. No need to flounder for a conversation topic, or be bored by questions about what you do for work; get right to plotting world dominion and defending your weird opinions. After the speed rounds are over you’ll also have the chance to reconnect with the people you enjoyed talking to, or to meet even more new people.
Remember though, this event is about friendship, not dating! Come prepared to talk and laugh, but not date. Tickets and more information can be found at eventbrite.com/e/speed-friending-tickets-53825976845.
