I believe one of the upsides of living in one place for most of one’s life is that you really get to watch it, and the people who live there, grow. Whether that place is a city, state, or even country, it’s wonderful, if occasionally bittersweet, to see the place you call home evolve into something better. Utah is definitely one of those places that have grown quite a bit over the years. Our population has boomed, our cities and tourist attractions have grown, and even landmarks like the Salt Lake Bees’ Ballpark are moving. While some of these changes can feel overwhelming at times, I think one of the best gradual changes in Utah has been its evolution into a mini mixing pot.
Diversity is vital to the expansion of knowledge, acceptance, experiences, art, and more. New faces and new ideas help make the world, and our little corner of it, a better place. One of the things I always look forward to in Utah is the cultural festivals, where I can experience incredible food, music, and art from different cultures while not having to travel far. If you’re like me in that regard, you’ll love the upcoming Venezuelan Festival on July 8th at the Gateway!
This festival has free admission so it’s the perfect activity to bring all your friends and family to. There will be live performances of traditional Venezuelan music, art, dancing, and of course an incredible spread of authentic Venezuelan food. If that alone isn’t enough to convince you to join in the festivities, there will also be multiple raffles for TVs, water games, and vendors! Experience a slice of Venezuelan life and celebrate one of the beautiful cultures that your Utahn neighbors belong to.
