When people hear the words “volunteering” or “charity” they often think of donation centers or putting spare change in buckets. While those types of donations and acts can be helpful and important, there are tons of other ways to get invested in your community and support a good cause. In fact, some charitable opportunities can be downright fun! For example the Utah Beer Festival. That’s right, the Utah Beer Festival is a great way for you to support local businesses and help fund charity, all while having a great time. The festival is being held on August 19th and 20th at Granary Live and Granary Square and will be serving beers and ciders from breweries across the country. Some local favorites you can look forward to include Park City Brewing, Wasatch Brewery, and Uinta Brewing. Ticket price includes a 10-punch passport, good for 10 different 5oz sample pours, and a souvenir sampler mug. Additional punches can be purchased if you’d like to sample more. Along with the beers and ciders, there will also be drag bingo, bar trivia, mini golf, food trucks, local restaurants, live music, a silent auction, and more! Feel free to bring blankets and umbrellas so you can spread out and enjoy the drinks and performances at your leisure. If you plan on sampling as much as you can, just make sure you have a designated driver, or take Trax to and from the event. We want you to have fun but your safety comes first! Proceeds from this event go towards supporting the Allied Against Cancer initiative and their partnership with the American Cancer Society. Their main goal is to help alleviate the disproportionate burden that members of the LGTBQ+ community with cancer face, including distinctive risk factors and barriers to healthcare. We hope you’ll join us in having a blast, uplifting your community, and fighting cancer! Tickets and more information can be found at utahbeerfestival.com/.
