Having enough space in an average bathroom for all your stuff—beauty products, pain relievers, haircare necessities—can be challenging. You probably have a pileup of bottles, jars, and tubes all over the sink and on top of the toilet tank. This is classic clutter and it can be resolved. The first step is to declutter the countertop, cabinets, and drawers. Get rid of anything you haven’t used in more than a year. Throw out any over-the-counter medications that have expired. When you’re ready to shop, know the measurements (height, width, and depth) of any existing cabinets and drawers so you can be sure that any new organizer will fit. Some features to look for: sliding trays, adjustable height legs, and dividers. Consider the following storage options:
Medicine cabinet for wall A popular unit to hold daily needs like toothbrushes and paste, dental floss, aspirin, and nail clippers. To neaten the space and allow you to store more, put those items in an acrylic organizer with dividers.
Over-the-toilet shelf Designed to fit on the wall over a standard toilet, this shelf can be used to hold paper goods like tissues and extra toilet paper. It is often designed with a stand.
Shelf above the door frame Use this to store extra shampoo, conditioner, moisturizer, toothpaste or other toiletries that don’t need daily replenishing since the items will not be within easy reach.
Under-sink cabinet with sliding tray If you’ve got only one row of bottles lined up in your under-sink cabinet, you can create double the storage by installing a two-tiered unit; look for one that comes with a pullout tray.
Turntable inside cabinet With one whirl, you can get to your products swiftly and easily when you get a turntable for your under-sink cabinet. No more counter clutter!
See-through stackable containers This takes bathroom storage to new heights. Stack several large clear plastic containers with hinged lids then place them on your counter to take full advantage of vertical space. It’s a great place to store bottles, jars, and even washcloths.
Under-the-sink door caddy Perfect for brushes, dryers, curling irons, and other haircare necessities, this organizer goes over the vanity cabinet door, much like a traditional over-the-door shoe organizer.
Drawer dividers When you get this gem, you’ll never have to sift through your vanity drawer to find the Q-tips. A divider keeps your bathroom necessities neat and tidy and easy to find.
Small countertop containers Whether made of glass or plastic, these compact containers with lids come in handy for cotton balls, tweezers, and eyelash curlers. Set on the countertop or inside the medicine chest.
