By Heather Madsen,
October is finally here and that means it’s time for changing leaves, sweaters, pumpkins, and scary decorations! If you’re looking for the perfect way to kick off the first week of October, look no further than these local festivals, where you can get into the groove of fall.
If you love Halloween and all things spooky, then the Dark Arts Festival was made for you. Come listen to the talented DJ line up and experience mind-bending art installations, costumes, performances, vendors, and more! This festival is being held at AREA 51 from October 6th through 8th.
If you’re looking for a more child-friendly festival to kick off the season, your family will love Layton’s Harvest Festival and Food Drive. You can cross off every item on your fall bucket list at this event, including hay rides, face painting, festival games, kid crafts, seasonal treats, and more! You don’t need a ticket or reservation to get in; just bring a couple cans of food for the food drive. This event is a great way to have fun as a family and help your local community, so mark your calendars for Saturday October 7th!
If Layton is too far away from you for a day trip, then maybe you can swing by the Fall Festival in Saratoga Springs. This festival will have inflatables, food trucks, trick or treating, train rides and a petting zoo! There will also be booths representing local businesses with games and prizes for kids to participate in. This festival will be held Friday October 6th, at Shay Park.
Are you looking for more of an instagram worthy activity, something unique and magical? If so, you should check out the Utah County Lantern Festival. Release lanterns into the brisk fall air, surrounded by mountains and the water of Lindon Marina. It will be a stunning evening you don’t want to miss, on Saturday, October 7th!
All of these events are great ways to welcome the changing seasons and make amazing memories, so we hope to see you there!
