By Heather Madsen,
The Utah State Fair is back and bigger than ever! If you’re new to the state fair, hold onto your cowboy hat, because there’s a lot to experience! Even if you’re an old hat at the fair, there’s still something new to see and experience every year. This year the fair is running from September 7th to the 17th, and each day is jam-packed with events. If you have kids and want to make this a family outing then there are several animal barns to walk through, free concerts, roaming performers, and of course the Little Hands on the Farm exhibit where kids get to reenact a day in the life of a farmer.
If you’re more into livestock and horsemanship, then you’ll want to hit up the barns and 4-H competitions or plan your visit for the 7th when the horse pull competition is held. Of course, the state fair wouldn’t be complete without the rodeo either. Don’t miss your chance to see bucking broncos, mutton bustin’, and more heart-stopping feats at the Days of ‘47 arena.
Thrill seekers should head on over to the festival section where you can play carnival games, ride the pop-up rides, and eat all of the cotton candy and kettle corn you can stomach. You can also stop by the Vans Skatepark and watch skaters practice their tricks. Or hop on the half pipe yourself if you brought your board and helmet!
The festival will also be hosting vendor booths with a dizzying array of merchandise, live art demonstrations, free and paid concerts, classic fair food and drink booths, and so much more. Attending the fair is a great way to support other Utahns, have a great time, and be a part of an incredible tradition. We hope to see you there!
