It’s December and that means Christmas decorations, traditions, and activities can begin in earnest! There are loads of fun holiday activities to join in this weekend, but the one I’m most excited about involves time travel … so grab your family and your coat and get ready to celebrate a Victorian-Era Christmas!
There’s nothing that represents Christmas more than the classic story by Charles Dickens about discovering the meaning of life and the holidays. If you’re a fan of A Christmas Carol, then you won’t want to miss St. George’s Dickens’ Christmas Festival. This festival is a time machine back to Olde English times where you can shop artisan goods and crafts and enjoy the immersive experience of wandering the streets of “London.”
Each vendor at the festival is carefully selected and vetted to ensure that only the highest quality goods are being offered. The vendors are also all dressed in period costumes so as to create the most authentic experience for guests possible. Every Dickens character type you can think of will be present, including orphans running the streets, royalty parading about in their sparkling gowns, fortune tellers who can unlock your future, shopkeepers working hard, and of course the occasional miser. If you’re lucky you might even run into Queen Victoria or Father Christmas themselves!
This event is family-friendly and a wonderful way to experience one of the most quintessential stories about Christmas (and also a great opportunity to purchase Christmas presents), so we hope you’ll join us at this unique and incredible celebration. The festival will take place from 10am to 9pm, November 29th through December 2nd at the Dixie Convention Center in St. George.
Tickets can be purchased online or at the door and children 3 years of age and younger can enter for free. For more information visit dickenschristmasfestival.com.
