By Heather Madsen,
With the new year often comes introspection, reflection, and a resolute attitude for the future. We have high hopes and aspirations to stick to our new goals and become better, stronger people by the end of the year. As most of us know however, following through on a New Year’s resolution can be very difficult. If you’ve struggled with making effective changes in your life, or if you’d like to join a supportive and positive community this year, come on down to the Polar Purpose Plunge!
The Polar Purpose Plunge is exactly what it sounds like: a brisk jump into the icy water of a frozen lake. Now you may be wondering why on earth anyone would do that, and the answer is: because it’s a big first step in showing yourself that you can overcome any mental or physical barriers that are preventing you from accomplishing your goals. Plus, you won’t be doing it alone! This is a community event, and everyone will be there to cheer you on and support you as you conquer your fear, plunge for a purpose, and rise resilient.
This event, hosted by the Swell Retreat in Castle Dale, is also to help raise suicide awareness and prevention. Having an uplifting community, finding a purpose, and being able to move forward are all important components of battling depression and suicidal ideation. If you would like to make the jump in honor of someone you know who is struggling or who has committed suicide, everyone at the event will be there to support you.
Along with the plunge, there will also be activities for your friends and family all around the lake. The events start at noon and include hay rides, music, a family scavenger hunt, food trucks, a raffle, firepits, and more. We sincerely hope to see you there and we can’t wait to cheer you on this new year! For more information and to register for this event visit https://www.swellretreat.com/polar-plunge.
